Résumé :

Abstract After a brief overview of the presence of Pannonian saints in the orthodox Greek rite, in comparison with the Latin one, I give a summary of the cult of Saint Martin in Byzantium. In this overview, I trace the relationship between his longer Greek Life (BHG 1181), that of the Synaxarion’s two versions and the concise life (BHG 1181e) which will be offered in an improved critical edition compared to the one by Munetiz who edited the same passage as part of Theognostus’ Thesaurus. The legal origin of Saint Martin’s main miracle of BHG 1181e, the resurrection of the dead debtor, who was falsely accused by a sycophant, is presented.
