John Lydus' fragmentary work De mensibus was edited for the last time by Richard Wünsch in 1898 The present article reviews the current state of research on the ways of its transmission and its stemma I pay special attention to the question of the work's original length, the quotations in Photius and the textual tradition in the Etymologicum Gudianum. Finally, I present the new stemma of De mensibus.
