Résumé :
This chapter proposes a new analysis of the prokypsis poems by Manuel Holobolos (c.1245–1310/1314). Poem no. 1 is taken as a sample and edited, translated, and commented upon. It is argued that two different versions of the same poem are extant and that they reflect two slightly different moments. An analysis of the poem explores the close connection with the ceremonial apparatus and shows how text and ceremony enhance each other’s meaning.
