Résumé :

The Greek annotated editions of Late Antiquity and the early Byzantine period were designed and handed down in different forms. Some authors provide valuable information on the raison d’être and the legitimacy of their exegetical work: a systematic analysis of the vocabulary concerned can contribute to a more informed description of some of the mechanisms of exegesis in the pagan and Christian milieu of late antiquity, and provide finer tools for understanding the modes of commenting. Starting from a re-examination of the concluding words of the prologue to the Corpus Dionysacum, this contribution invites one to a discussion – in an interdisciplinary perspective – about the meaning of essential terms of late antique exegesis, and asks that this discussion be used to study the editorial design and evolution of the old corpora.
